Mini Med Plans Survive Health Care Reform
After The Health Care Reform Bill was deviously passed by our politicians last year, it looked like Mini Med Plans were finished. Somewhere in the 2000+ page Reform document it said that Mini Med Plans or Limited Medical Plans were not fair to Americans due to the limited benefits that these plans provide. Somehow and I don’t know why, Mini Med Plans survived the “chopping block” and survived. Today, these plans are the hottest programs on the market.
Here in NY, we offer 2 carriers: Chartis and HighMark (HM). Both are reputable companies that offer several varieties of limited health care plans for employers. Best suited for these plans are employers with seasonal or part-time workers who cannot afford or refuse to pay for a robust health care program offered by their company. These plans are popular with restaurant owners, construction companies, landscape companies or any firm that has part-time workers who work at least 15 hours per week.
