Voluntary Benefits Become More Popular
Voluntary benefits are becoming more popular in the workplace as business owners scale back on group health insurance benefits. Many employers a encouraging their employees to enroll in personal insurance programs such as disability insurance, life insurance, dental, vision, accident insurance and even cancer insurance.
As reported in Employee Benefit Advisor, voluntary benefit sales are up over 4% this year and the future of voluntary sales looks brighter than ever. Since there is no cost to the employer to implement these additional benefits, employers are opening their doors to benefit reps who offer such products. They can be purchased right in the work place by each employee and the cost to each employee is only a extra few dollars that comes directly out of their paycheck.
Employees are becoming more willing to pay for Voluntary benefits that supplement their core medical insurance package. And as employees take on more of their health care costs, supplemental coverage can help when a major illness strikes.
